Craft Beer, Community, and Good Vibes

Montclair's neighborhood microbrewery pouring small-batch beers with big heart at 101 Walnut St.

About Us

At Montclair Brewery, the tap list changes with the seasons, but the mission stays the same: build a stronger community one pint at a time. Owner Leo and his wife have created something genuinely rare, a place where regulars and first-timers feel equally at home the moment they walk through the door. With a 4.5-star rating across nearly 400 reviews, the warmth here isn't a marketing line. It's the thing people keep coming back to write about.

The taproom at 101 Walnut St opens into both a cozy indoor space and an outdoor beer garden complete with heaters and fire pits, so the season never really closes the patio. Bring your dog. Bring your own food. On weekends, a guest food truck pulls up outside, and Door Dash delivers right to your table if you'd rather order in. There's no pretense, no kitchen gatekeeping, just great craft beer and room to settle in.

Wednesday karaoke nights, live music on the weekends, a cornhole league that runs through the warmer months: this is a taproom that gives you a reason to show up even when you're not sure what you're in the mood for. And if you can't make it in, NJ pickup and delivery means the beer finds you.

What We Offer

The taproom is the heart of it, with indoor tables and an outdoor beer garden fitted with heaters and fire pits for year-round use. Seating reservations are available so you can plan ahead for a group night out. The space is pet-friendly and operates a bring-your-own-food policy, with a guest food truck on weekends and Door Dash delivery accepted at the door.

Beyond the pint glass, Montclair Brewery offers beer pickup and delivery across New Jersey, plus distribution through regional partners if you want to stock up at home. The taproom doubles as a private event space available for rental, with virtual event booking and music booking services for bands and performers. Merchandise rounds out the shop for anyone who wants to take a little piece of Montclair home.

The cornhole league is a seasonal community staple, and the regular rotation of live music and karaoke nights keeps the weekly calendar worth checking. Whether you're planning a private party or just want a Friday afternoon table, the team makes it easy to get exactly what you need.

"This is a great place to have good beer and a fun time with friends, whether that's eating together (feel free to bring your own food), singing together on karaoke night, or listening to live music. As a brewer myself, I can appreciate that Leo, the very personable and friendly owner, takes traditions from his native Burkina Faso and incorporates them into his brews. For example, his delicious imperial stout "Black is Beautiful Stout with Baobab and Peanut Butter", perfect for icy weather. But, my personal favorite is their schwarzbier, "Black Mamba" (named in honor of Kobe), roasty but not heavy. Also of note is their "7 Anniversary Belgian Strong" (9.1% ABV). Alcoholic slushies are also available (Chardonnay!) Are you a teetotaler? No problem! They have several non-alcoholic options including an *amazing* Pineapple Ginger Beer. Drop by Montclair Brewery, have a great brew and say Hi to Leo! 🍻 Fun fact: he was once on the Discovery Channel's "Moonshiners" and won the title "Master Distiller"! (Season 3, Episode 9)"

"I visited Montclair Brewery recently and had such a memorable experience! Even though I don’t drink alcohol, I still found so much to enjoy here. From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly welcoming and the place had a friendly, laid-back vibe. The local art displayed throughout the space gave it such a creative touch I always appreciate spots that support artists and reflect the community’s personality. My friend, who enjoys craft beer, was really impressed with their selection of flavors which were bold, unique, and definitely worth coming back for. As for me, I was happy to find plantain chips on the menu simple but so flavorful! We sat outside where they had cozy outdoor seating and live music playing in the background, which made the whole visit even more enjoyable. They also have a small merchandise area with fun shirts and items that capture the spirit of the brewery great for souvenirs or gifts. What I really loved was how Montclair Brewery combines great beer with creativity and culture. Whether you're a beer enthusiast or just someone who enjoys a relaxed, artsy atmosphere, this place is definitely worth checking."

"Unique craft beers, beer garden vibes. They have no kitchen, but they do feature a guest food truck on weekends and you can order door dash to the establishment. Leo the owner and his wife are amazing hosts. Super chill vibe generally for my 30+ crowd. Dogs and children( depending on the event) welcome."

"The girls and I got together to celebrate Jamaica's independence at this event at the brewery. When I arrived I parked on the street not too far. We walked in and the brewery and nice. The event was being held in the back and we were too early for the band but we did enjoy some music with the DJ. They also had a food vendor with Jamaican food. The brewery is black owned and they are of Jamaican decent. I drank the flavored hard seltzer which was good and only $7.50. We enjoyed our time there."
